why I am taking Japanese

I wanted to learn about the Japanese language because it was a requirement for the College of Science. I chose Japanese out of all the options for two reasons. Their history and my desire to travel there for a ski trip.

Growing up I have seen and heard a lot about the Japanese culture and past. The respectful nature that has continued into the present is something so different from American culture. The Samari culture and history also drew me in. The biggest thing was a families willingness to commit seppuku.

I also love to snow board. The past few years I have hear so much about Japan skiing. It has gotten the nickname of JAPOW because of how much powdery snow Japan get. I would ideally be able to go on a Japan trip soon to ski. Being able to speak Japanese would not only help speak the language, but also allow me to fully immerse in the trip.

  1. Have you heard about Hakuba or Niseko? very popular skiing resort among foreigners. I love Hakuba, such a beautiful place.
